The Prius Prime Takes Electric to New Levels
When Toyota introduced the original Prius, consumers were quick to take notice and go green. Now, the Prius Prime is here and it’s boasting the best reviews in the electric car segment. This electric vehicle has a bigger battery, longer range, and shorter charging time than the popular first model. Because of this, drivers will be able to hit 1,035km of combined electric/hybrid range, and can now charge the Prius Prime using a standard 120v household outlet.
The Prius Prime has three different modes for maximum driving performance with minimum impact:
- EV (electric vehicle) mode revs up using the battery and an electric motor that harnesses power from the motion of the engine turning, or from its one-way clutch. The EV boasts top speeds of 135km/h with zero emissions. How’s that for green?
- EV Auto Mode uses mostly electric power but will use the car’s PCU (power control unit) to add gasoline power when the computer deems it necessary, such as while speeding up on the highway or ascending steep terrain.
- Hybrid mode blends battery power with both the electric motor and gas power. The Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive technology works intelligently to decide when to relax, and when to go full-speed-ahead. This way, you still minimize your impact and maximize your car’s performance.
The Toyota C-HR is the Cool New Kid on the Block
Part SUV, part CUV, and with the looks of a hatchback car, the 2018 Toyota C-HR stands for coupe high-rider. It houses four doors, and sits higher than many sedans. It’s one of our favourite vehicles of 2018, and for good reason.
